Placing a claim with you insurance company is an important step to getting things back to normal. Seeing how important this step is, it would be a good idea to talk to your licensed insurance agent prior to placing a claim. Reviewing coverages and deductible amounts should be reviewed with your insurance agent. Your insurance agent then should be able to steer you in the right direction with a step by step laundry list of what to do next.
Remember, placing a claim in with your insurance company is a choice you'll ultimately need to make. All severe/catastrophic claims should be reported immediately. When your agent is not at their desk due to an after hours claim, it is wise to call your insurance company directly if the claim is severe.
